Doctor Basel Abu-Serieh is a neurosurgeon specialising in the management of spinal conditions. Having qualified in medicine in 1999, he completed his neurosurgery training in several leading Belgian university institutions, notably at UCL, ULB and the University of Liège. Keen to develop advanced expertise in spinal surgery, he also rounded off his training with specialised further study at the Claude Bernard University in Lyon.

His activity is primarily devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He treats degenerative pathologies as well as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, vertebral instabilities, and certain traumatic and tumour-related pathologies of the spine.

Dr Abu-Serieh places particular importance on supporting his patients throughout their care pathway. He provides personalised follow-up, from the initial consultation and diagnosis through to treatment, surgery when indicated, and post-operative monitoring and recovery. This comprehensive approach enables him to offer every patient consistent, attentive care tailored to their needs.

Member of several national and international scientific societies dedicated to spinal surgery and neurosurgery, he regularly takes part in continuous training activities and specialised congresses in order to maintain a practice based on the most recent advances in his specialty.

Dr Bruno Baillon is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee surgery. Trained at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), he completed his specialisation with an Inter-University Diploma in knee pathology at the University of Paris XII.

For over twenty years, he has developed a particular expertise in the management of ligament and meniscal injuries, knee osteoarthritis, and prosthetic surgery. He is among the pioneers in Belgium in the development of robot-assisted surgery for knee replacements, a technique he has practiced for several years to improve surgical precision and patients' functional recovery.

He is currently Head of the Orthopaedics Department at Hôpitaux Iris Sud, Trainee Supervisor in Orthopaedics (ULB/UCLouvain) and a member of the teaching faculty for the Master's specialisation in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at ULB. He is also secretary of the Knee Commission of the Belgian Royal Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SORBCOT) and co-organiser of the annual Sport and Knee (SEG) congress.

Dr Baillon is also the founder and owner of the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre, a facility that specialises in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr Baillon practises at the Iris South Hospitals, the Waterloo Medical and Surgical Centre and the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre.

Dr Renaud Baillon is an orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in degenerative and sports-related pathologies of the hip and knee. He graduated in medicine from the ULB in 1996, and completed his training at the CHU Saint-Pierre and subsequently at the Hôpitaux Iris Sud.

He notably served as Head of the Functional Orthopaedics Unit at the Ixelles site, member of the Medical Council and Head of the Orthopaedics Department at the Iris South Hospitals from 2019 to 2023.

At the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre, he offers specialist consultations for the management of hip and knee conditions, both degenerative and sports-related.

Dr Grégory CALLEBAUT – Vascular Surgeon

As a vascular surgery specialist, Dr Grégory Callebaut undertakes the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting blood vessels (arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels).

He practises within the Iris South Hospitals, where he offers procedures tailored to vascular diseases such as aneurysms, lower limb peripheral arterial disease and varicose veins.

Dr Depovere obtained his Master's in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy in 2006 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Afterwards, he undertook medical studies, also at the VUB. For five years, he combined his medical studies with his work as a physiotherapist.

After obtaining his Master's degree in medicine in 2014, he trained for six years in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in various centres in Belgium. Qualifying in orthopaedic surgery in 2020, he then specialised in foot and ankle surgery. He completed high-level fellowships at the Sint-Maartenskliniek in Nijmegen (Netherlands), the Clinique du Sport in Mérignac-Bordeaux (France) and the ZNA Middelheim in Antwerp (Belgium).

Until the end of April 2023, Dr Depovere worked at the Sint-Maria hospital in Halle. Since May 2023, he has been working within the Iris South Hospitals group, on the Molière campus in Forest.

In addition to his passion for orthopaedics, Dr Depovere also has a great interest in sport in the broad sense of the word. As a result, he completed a course in sports medicine at Ghent University, finishing in 2022. Alongside his work as an orthopaedic surgeon, he is therefore also a sports physician. His passion for sport led him to become the club doctor for RWDM (1B Pro League) from July 2021 to the end of June 2026, one of the clubs he had played for himself.

Dr Depovere is a member of the BVOT (Belgian Association for Orthopaedics and Traumatology), the BFAS (Belgian Foot and Ankle Society), the EFAS (European Foot and Ankle Society) and the ESSKA (European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy).

Nour practises general physiotherapy with a particular focus on the needs and goals of each patient.

Dr Johnatan Everaert is an orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in pathologies of the knee and hip. Having graduated with the highest distinction from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), he also holds an Inter-University Diploma in Surgical Pathology of the Knee from the Université Grenoble Alpes. He completed his training with advanced specialisation in arthroscopic surgery of the sporting knee at the Brussels Orthopaedics & Sports Institute (BOSI).

His practice is mainly dedicated to the management of knee and hip pathologies, notably ligament and meniscal injuries, degenerative conditions, and joint replacement surgery. He performs robot-assisted surgery for knee and hip replacements in order to optimise surgical planning and precision.

Alongside his clinical work, he is involved in university teaching activities and research projects focusing in particular on robotic surgery.

As a board member of the Belgian Royal Society for Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SORBCOT), Dr Everaert is actively involved in the development of the speciality in Belgium and in promoting scientific and clinical excellence.

Dr Cédric Hautrive is a sports physician and specialist in sports traumatology. A graduate in medicine from the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), he completed his training with an interuniversity certificate in sports medicine and traumatology (UCLouvain - University of Liège), an ECG interpretation diploma and training in musculoskeletal ultrasound. He regularly continues his training in the fields of traumatology, exercise physiology, functional rehabilitation and injury prevention.

For several years, he has assisted both amateur sports enthusiasts and athletes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to sports. His expertise covers sports injuries, overuse injuries, the assessment of fitness to play sports, and performance optimisation through exercise testing and physiological analysis. Drawing on his experience in athletics and triathlon, he makes it a point of honour to adapt the training of injured athletes to enable them to continue their preparation under the best possible conditions and in complete safety.

Dr Hautrive also performs hyaluronic acid injections and mesotherapy treatments when these are indicated in the management of musculoskeletal conditions.

Alongside his clinical work, he is a lecturer in orthopaedics and pathology at the Haute École Léonard de Vinci for podiatry students. He also works as a sports medicine consultant within the orthopaedics department of the Hôpitaux Iris Sud and has been a referring physician for several high-level sports organisations, notably the Union Saint-Gilloise Youth Academy, White Star Athletics and AFC Tubize.

Dr Hautrive consults in Woluwe, where he is one of the founders of the Aspis Medical Sport Center, as well as in Waterloo and Anderlecht, within several centres specialising in sports medicine.

Dr Thomas Joachim is an orthopaedic surgeon at the Hôpitaux Iris Sud, where he is notably head of the orthopaedics unit at the Etterbeek-Ixelles site.

Trained in surgery in Lausanne and subsequently in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology at the ULB, he has been practising at the Hôpitaux Iris Sud since 2011. He specialises in acute and geriatric traumatology, as well as foot and ankle surgery.

An AO Trauma instructor, he also takes part in teaching traumatology and training orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr Joachim is also joining the team at the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre, where he will offer specialist consultations in orthopaedics, trauma surgery and foot and ankle surgery.

Dr Sinan Kara is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery. After obtaining his Bachelor of Medical Sciences at the University of Mons (UMONS), he continued his training at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), where he qualified as a doctor before specialising in orthopaedics and traumatology.

He covers all shoulder and elbow conditions, whether traumatic, degenerative or related to sports. His expertise focuses in particular on rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, tendinopathies, osteoarthritis as well as fractures and their sequelae. He favours modern arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery techniques, combined with personalised care for each patient.

Dr Kara practises at the South Iris Hospitals as well as at the KaraMedical centre in Schaerbeek. His goal is to provide specialised care, based on current scientific data, to enable his patients to permanently regain their mobility and quality of life.

Dr Alexandre Madoki is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery. Trained at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), he completed his training to dedicate himself to the management of these conditions.

He is developing a particular expertise in the treatment of degenerative, sports and traumatic conditions. His work notably covers arthroscopic surgery, reconstructive surgery and prosthetic surgery.

He currently practises within the Orthopaedics department of the Hôpitaux Iris Sud.

Physiotherapist, graduated from the ULB in 1998, Laurent Mammerickx specialises in orthopaedics, traumatology and sports pathologies. He has practised in particular at the Hôpitaux Iris Sud, where he was deputy head of department, and is currently co-owner of CrossFit Brussels.

He has particularly specialised in functional assessment and isokinetic testing, enabling muscle capacities to be measured objectively, rehabilitation to be personalised and a return to sport to be supported.

As a qualified podiatrist, I treat various foot conditions and pathologies in both children and adults. Specifically, I treat skin and nail disorders, foot deformities, as well as pain and disorders related to walking and posture. I pay particular attention to the assessment of the foot, posture and walking in order to provide care tailored to the needs of each patient. I also provide post-surgical and post-trauma foot care, with the aim of promoting optimal recovery and improving daily comfort and quality of life.

My professional background has enabled me to work in various healthcare environments, notably at the Iris Sud Hospital – Molière-Longchamps site, the Polyclinique Baron Lambert and the La Vaillance Health Centre in Anderlecht, alongside home visits. These various experiences have allowed me to develop a personalised approach while gaining solid experience in the management of patients with general health problems or more complex medical situations.

Dr Olivier Nicod is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hand and wrist surgery.

Trained at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), he completed his specialisation with Inter-University Diplomas in microsurgery in Lille, hand surgery in Belgium, and surgical flap anatomy in Bordeaux.

In addition to his private consulting practice at the «Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre», Dr Nicod consults and operates in the Orthopaedics Department of the South Iris Hospitals in Brussels and at the SOS Shoulder-Hand Centre in Luxembourg.

Dr Cristian Ninulescu is a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon. His entire practice is dedicated to the management of bone and joint conditions in children and adolescents.

Graduated in medicine with the highest distinction from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova (Romania) in 2010, he completed an international training path including an Erasmus year at the University of Mons (UMONS). After initial training in orthopaedic surgery in Bucharest (2010-2012), he continued his specialisation in Brussels from 2012 to 2017.

Dr Ninulescu has completed his training through numerous international specialised courses and programmes in paediatric orthopaedics and sports surgery (ULB, EPOS BAT Course, EPOS Advanced Courses Vienna, EBAC Istanbul, DIU in Arthroscopy from the French-Speaking Arthroscopy Society with a dissertation and fellowship under the direction of Prof. Romain Seil, Luxembourg, EPOS Clubfoot Course Porto, EPOS Advanced Pediatric Arthroscopy Course – Geneva).

His expertise focuses particularly on knee conditions in children and adolescents, as well as paediatric sports injuries, notably patellar instability, anterior cruciate ligament injuries, osteochondritis dissecans and discoid meniscus. He also treats all paediatric orthopaedic conditions, notably spinal deformities, gait disorders, limb length discrepancies, knock knees (genu valgum), bow legs (genu varum), developmental dysplasia and dislocation of the hip, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, as well as foot conditions such as flat foot, cavus foot, tarsal coalitions and clubfoot.

Dr Ninulescu is a member of the Royal Belgian Society for Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SORBCOT), the Belgian Association of Pediatric Orthopaedics (BAPO), the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS), the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) and the French-speaking Arthroscopy Society (SFA). He regularly takes part in international conferences and training courses in order to maintain up-to-date expertise based on the most recent scientific data.

Physiotherapist graduated from the Parnasse Institute in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert in 2022, I then practised for four years in various professional environments: private practice, medical centre, health centre and home visits. These experiences have allowed me to develop a versatile practice and support patients with varied profiles and needs.

Alongside this professional experience, I chose to specialise in sports physiotherapy. I therefore completed the inter-university certificate in sports physiotherapy at UCLouvain and ULiège, which I obtained in June 2026.

I also work with a Division 1 rugby team in Waterloo (ASUB), an experience that enriches my practice in the musculoskeletal and sports field.

Dr Deepa Pothalil is a neurologist, with particular expertise in electromyography (EMG) and clinical neurophysiology.

Trained at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain), she completed her neurology training with specialist training in clinical neurophysiology and movement disorders, notably in Brussels and Paris. She has extensive experience in EMG and neurophysiological investigations.

His work in EMG enables him to explore disorders of the peripheral nerves, nerve roots, plexuses and muscles, particularly in the context of radiculopathies, peripheral neuropathies, entrapment syndromes, pain or sensory and motor disorders.

She currently practises at CHIREC in Brussels, where she works in general neurology and neurological emergencies, as well as specialising in electromyography. She has also practised in several Brussels hospitals and at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV).

At the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre, Dr Pothalil performs electromyographic (EMG) examinations for the investigation of peripheral neurological conditions and disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

Mathieu Preud’homme is a physiotherapist specialising in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal traumatology. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2011 (ISEK) and also gained a qualification in Manual Therapy in 2015 (DOe). Among his various areas of focus within orthopaedics, he particularly specialises in the rehabilitation of the temporomandibular joint and the cervical spine. With over 15 years of experience, he places the patient at the centre of their rehabilitation using as holistic an approach as possible. He currently heads the physiotherapy orthopaedic consultation service at the Brussels Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Center (BORC) of the Molière Hospital (HIS). He is also a co-clinical supervisor within the same department.

Mr Mathieu Preud’homme practises at the Iris Sud hospitals (Molière Longchamps site), the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre and Verlaine Medic in Wavre.

Dr Jian Gang Qu is head of the rheumatology department at the Iris South Hospitals and also practises within the rheumatology department of the Erasme Hospital.

He covers all rheumatological conditions and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, in particular joint, bone, muscle and tendon diseases.

His work includes the management of inflammatory rheumatism, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and musculoskeletal conditions. He also performs musculoskeletal ultrasound, used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Dr Qu is joining the team at the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre, where he will offer specialised rheumatology consultations.

A graduate in osteopathy following university training at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), I practise with the desire to provide care that is rigorous, compassionate and individualised.

For four years, I have also been an anatomy assistant at the ULB Faculty of Medicine, an activity that nourishes my clinical practice by maintaining a close link with medical sciences and the understanding of the human body.

I practise in both hospital and private clinic settings, which allows me to support a diverse patient base. I care for adults, pregnant women, as well as infants and young children, adapting each treatment to everyone's specific needs.

My care is aimed at patients presenting with musculoskeletal issues, functional limitations or those wishing to regain better movement comfort. I place great importance on listening, explaining symptoms and developing a treatment tailored to everyone's needs and goals.

Dr David Sauveur is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in spinal surgery. Following medical training and a Master's degree in orthopaedic surgery at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), he pursued specialisation in spinal pathology at the Polyclinique Bordeaux Nord Aquitaine (France) under Professor Jean-Charles Le Huec.

His expertise covers cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal surgery for degenerative and traumatic adult conditions, as well as the conservative treatment of paediatric spinal pathologies.

A member of the Hôpitaux Iris Sud orthopaedic department since 20025, he practises across all three sites (Etterbeek-Ixelles, Molière-Longchamps and Joseph Bracops), as well as at the Chatelain Orthopaedic Centre and the Cabinet Médical Jourdan.

Dr Sirbu Negrea Partenie is an orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in shoulder and elbow pathologies, with several years of experience.

A graduate of the University of Medicine in Timisoara, Romania, he completed his orthopaedic and trauma training in France, with a subspecialisation in arthroscopic and prosthetic shoulder surgery.

Their activity is particularly focused on the management of shoulder, elbow and hand pathologies, as well as general traumatology.

A member of the Belgian Royal Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SORBCOT), the French-speaking Arthroscopy Society (SFA) and the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), Dr Sirbu is actively committed to continuous professional development, both in Belgium and internationally.

Marie Vancabeke is a physiotherapist specialising in orthopaedics, musculoskeletal traumatology and sports physiotherapy. Having graduated in 2018 with a Master's degree in physiotherapy from the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), she completed her training with a specialisation in sports physiotherapy at UCL and ULg, enabling her to treat both athletes and patients undergoing traditional rehabilitation.

She has a particular interest in lower limb pathologies, notably those of the knee, hip and ankle, which she treats with a structured and tailored approach for each situation.

Marie places great importance on listening, precise assessment and personalised care. Her aim is to help every patient regain mobility, comfort and confidence in their body, through professional, clear and supportive guidance.

Dr Thomas von Waldburg is an orthopaedic surgeon and D.O. osteopath, specialising in particular in spinal and hip conditions. Having graduated in medicine in Strasbourg, he obtained his specialisation in orthopaedics in 1998, followed by his degree in osteopathy from the Belgian College of Osteopathy in Brussels in 2008.

Drawing on this dual expertise and more than 15 years of osteopathic practice, he now practises osteopathy exclusively at the Châtelain Orthopaedic Centre. At the same time, he continues his orthopaedic consultations at his other practice locations, notably at the Hôpitaux Iris Sud. He is also a clinical supervisor at the ULB and head of the osteopathy department at the Hôpitaux Iris Sud.
